How To: Bust a Move

Conversations during a date are a great way for a couple to learn more about each other. When it comes to conversing while eating, it might get a bit tricky. The rule of thumb for eating while talking when out on a date should be to start a topic, take a bite and while you're chewing, let the other party get a chance to voice an opinion on the matter.

Following this guideline shows that you're a great listener and have excellent table manners. Speaking of speaking, prepare a few topics of conversation or icebreakers for the date, especially if you hate awkward and lengthy pauses while staring into the depths of each other's eyes.

Additionally, you want to engage in a conversation while sitting at the table instead of using your phone to text, take 100 pictures of your food, or post that quick Instagram photo or Tiktok. If you must take that picture, try taking a maximum of 3 shots, and don't let the food cool down since it's all about tasting the food rather than framing the photo of the penne alla vodka you had that one time and placing it over your fireplace. Another tip to consider when interacting with your date is to be considerate. Seems like a no-brainer, right? Sometimes, it might be hard to forget that the person sitting across from you is a human being with ambitions, dreams, and an accompanying past, present, and future. It's important to consider treating the person with respect

Some dating experts might tell others to avoid risque topics while on a date; however, it is beneficial to have a healthy discussion to determine if your date is worth your time. Since we all walk from different paths in life, you might have different opinions from your date, whether they pertain to politics, religion, how to fix the economy, etc.

Honestly, society would be boring if people thought the same way, and there is a reason "yes men" are looked down upon. Even though you might not see eye to eye with your date, that's ok. You should listen to the differences to make a possible improvement in opinion if your partner's arguments are reasonable. Overall, agreeing to disagree is better than forcing another person to change views.

Last but not least, I want to end on a note that you should apply not only to your date but also in your life. Treat others the way you want to be treated and the world shall reward you. It's a great saying and even better when implemented but oftentimes, people forget and with that…

Wander free you trusty stallion, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
